Hi Tom this is Jacob Herrmann. I was wandering what the best times are for ice fishing panfish.

Hello Jacob, The best times to ice fish pan fish vary greatly based on a variety of factors, but speaking in general terms, most ice anglers would agree early and late season are the best times to catch the most and often largest pan fish–although periods of mild weather can bring some flurries of good action mid-season, too. Be sure to research the waters you intend to fish, checking with local biologists, bait shops, guides and other knowledgeable anglers to help you choose lakes offering the species you’re looking for, assist with providing information on the ice conditions, where the fish are biting and what they’re biting on…then stay open-minded and versatile once you’re on the ice to learn even more and maximize your catch. Enjoy!
